The Eden Prairie City Council has approved the 2026 city budget, marking a 6.5% increase to $66,847,061, and a property tax levy rise of 5.6% to $50,119,782. Despite these increases, Eden Prairie’s tax rate remains among the lowest compared to metropolitan area suburbs, demonstrating the city’s commitment to fiscal responsibility while supporting community growth.
Residents can access the proposed budget summary and meeting presentation on the city’s official website. Final budget documents will be available online in January.
In addition to the budget approval, the city continues to invest in public safety and community services. The Police and Fire Departments recently introduced a new Mobile Command Center, enhancing response capabilities during critical incidents and community events. This initiative underscores Eden Prairie’s dedication to maintaining a safe and vibrant community.
Furthermore, the city has accepted a generous $50,000 donation to fund an Art Center internship program. This year-round internship aims to provide comprehensive experiences in visual and performing arts, programming, events, marketing, and Art Center management, fostering a stronger connection between the Art Center and the diverse community it serves.
These developments reflect Eden Prairie’s ongoing efforts to balance growth with fiscal responsibility, ensuring the city remains a desirable place to live and work.
